The true essence of life.....

In this article which i intend to write in the next one hour i shall attempt to pen down my thoughts on a very relevant and important aspect of this beautiful journey called life......

Pause

As a strategic planner i work on project basis, the worst thing being, its not just one project at a time but 3-4 projects which we work on simaltaneously ....It really gets on you. We don't really have a say in the kind of projects which we work on. Not all projects are interesting... not all projects turn out to be winners. Some projects are sheer pain for the kind of content involved or the people involved. And what i realised is that because my unhappiness and fatigue in working for that one particular project, my performance in the other projects also get affected negatively.

Today when i look back; the end result is feeling of regret that i should not have allowed that 1 project to ruin my experience of working on other projects which i had liked so much.

I'm sure all of us in our lives would have experienced this feeling at some time or the other.
Why do we allow that one event to spoil our sum total experience?

Pause

Well i found this experience to be a wonderful analogy in explaining one of the most relevant and important event of our most beautiful journey called.....Life

Life if you were to look at it from a outdistance is nothing but a sum total of various individual events. And its our journey through these events that determines the satisfaction we have at the other end of the journey.

All of us desire that the events in our lives result in a particular type feeling ( positive is the word).

Some events turn out to be as per our desire and some don't (now isn't that fair!). However its the way we deal with those event which 'don't turn out to be as per our desire ( which we also refer to as bad/negative experience) that determine the happiness quotient of our life in the larger and truer sense.

Those events which don't turn out as desired have a considerable effect on us. Not because of any other reason but due to our own doings. We never expect those outcomes and we react negatively. However that is very normal.

The only mistake what we do is let the effect of this event determine our interactions with all the future events. Because of the so called negative experience of event (lets call it event 1) we feel all the follwoing events of our lives will be negative . We simply become pessimist. We dont give the next event ( call it event 2) its fair chance.

But then a valid question arises. What if the so called one unhappy event 1 does not let go...it is so potent that it just does not allow me to be at peace with the other events of my life?

Its all in the mindset

Its because we put all our energies in running away from the outcome of that one event. And thus in the process not giving the next event our full desired attention. The first question we ask ourselves is 'Why did this happen to me?/ I don't want to be in such a situation?

As discussed all events are interrelated. Event 1 happened for a reason and it is extremely important to understand that event 1 was necessary for me to move into event 2. Don't run away from event 1 because according to you it was a bad experience. Please understand ...It was meant to happen. We need to embrace it as if it were an opportunity given to experience pain and in the process learn life's best lessons

Event 1 happens in every persons life, the quantum however differs; and it differs on the basis of how you as an individual handle it .

No event is ever a sad or depressing one. In fact, such experiences are enlightening; they have the power to take you above the ordinary. It leads to introspect yourself and leads you closer to the soul. Event 1 happened for a reason and you have to believe that it just could not have been avoided.

But what you can avoid is how you deal with the next event and that truly what one needs to be careful about because those are the most critical portions of your life.

One way of dealing with it is by saying " Okay, Event 1 was bad; not as per my desire. I don't want to remember it. Its the worst phase of my life and I'll do a fresh beginning from event 2"

This approach may seem fine. But in the larger sense it creates bad clusters in you life. Remember no two events are completely independent hence how much ever you may want to make a new beginning, a large part of event 2 will be involved in you trying to block event 1 and in the process dilute your involvement with event 2. You will never be able to completely let go of event 1. This way even before you have begun event 2 you have let the exp. of event 1 effect you negatively.

The other way to look at things is by saying...

"Okay Event 1 was bad; not as per my desire. This is not what i wanted . I am really sad. But........ it had to happen! It happened for a reason and because it's someway preparing me for event 2 ( you see both events are interrelated) and I'm going to embrace my bad experience as the necessary experience which i had to undergo for the development of my self and in preparing me for the journey ahead. I don't detest it and don't run away from it. I base my event 2 on the learning's of event 1 however bad it was and at the same time fully understanding that event 2 is independent in it own way with a different context. I will not assume things just because of my previous experience with event 1.

This does not mean that this way event 2 is guaranteed to turn out as per my desire. It can also not. But it is here where a higher level of understanding is required. If it has to happen it will happen.

All it would do is to ensure that you have not self-ruined event 2 from the beggining. You are giving event 2 a chance. A chance which it rightly deserves. And more often than not i strongly believe that this way event 2 will turn out more beautiful than you ever thought.

Pause

My friends nothing in this life, no events and no experiences are negative. Some experiences are extremely painful but we need to keep it mind that such experiences are critical for each individual and would definitely make life beautiful in the long term and such events help us to understand what true happiness is all about. But provided we don't turn negative towards event 2.

What i have realised is that outcomes of events in life are fixed. No matter what you do.... whatever is to happen will happen. But its how you deal with those outcomes that makes life truly worth living and experiencing

So stop worrying about what happened to you. It simply had to happen...when you remember the pain do not forget to recall the happiness which life has given you and give the next event in life its fair chance
